MineChock: Wheel Chocks That Deliver Superior Safety

Wheel Chocks for haul trucks & large vehicles.

National Plastics & Rubber proudly presents MineChock, our advanced range of wheel chocks designed to meet the highest safety standards in the mining and heavy industry sectors. Over the past 15 years, we have evolved from producing traditional heavy chocks to developing MineChock, a line of lightweight, polyurethane wheel chocks engineered to address modern safety regulations and reduce manual handling risks. Unlike conventional plastic or rubber chocks, MineChock offers superior design and performance, ensuring safe and secure immobilisation of vehicles ranging from light-duty to the heaviest mining trucks.

Innovative Design for Enhanced Safety

The MineChock range is distinguished by its unique “toe” design, which ensures the tyre engages with the chock securely, locking it in place and preventing slippage even under extreme conditions. This patented design has been so successful that it has been adapted into our aviation product line, Aerochock®, demonstrating its reliability across various sectors.

For operational versatility, the size 4/3 MineChock combines the profiles of size 3 and size 4 into one dual-sided chock. This allows service teams to carry a single chock capable of supporting a wide range of vehicles, simplifying logistics and boosting safety during maintenance and repair tasks.

Best Practices for Using MineChock

Before using MineChock, inspect each chock for any signs of damage or missing components. When securing vehicles on level ground, use a minimum of two chocks positioned at the front and rear of the tyres. On gradients, safety authorities recommend placing chocks on the downhill side only, as uphill chocks do not contribute to stability. For loaded vehicles on inclines, use four chocks on the downhill side of the front and rear tyres to ensure complete safety. Always align the MineChock squarely in the center of the tyre for optimal performance.

The Workshop Wheel Chock: A Custom Solution

In response to feedback from a major mining client, we developed the Workshop Wheel Chock, specifically tailored for controlled workshop environments. Unlike our heavy-duty field chocks, the Workshop Wheel Chock features wheels and ergonomic handles for easy maneuverability, minimising manual handling risks. Simply tilt the chock onto its wheels for transport and position it effortlessly against the tyre. This innovative design was recognised at the 2022 QLD Mining Health & Safety Conference, where it won both the Innovation Award and People’s Choice Award for its significant contribution to safety in the industry.
